Machinist apprenticeship
Starting from September 2021
Education:
- Machinists operate CNC-controlled milling machines, grinding machines and lathes to manufacture precision components.
- This includes planning and monitoring manufacturing processes, selecting appropriate machining methods and setting up the CNC machine tools.
- An interest in modern engineering practices, good spatial reasoning abilities and a keen eye for detail are good qualities for performing well in this field.
- After completing training in the fundamentals of metalworking, you will work in all relevant departments.
Training programme:
- Setting up programs for numerically controlled machines and tools
- Adherence to and organisation of work processes in compliance with deadlines and commercial requirements
- Production of components by means of machining processes
- Monitoring of the production process (machine and component quality)
- Documentation and evaluation of work and quality results
- Monitoring of safety equipment and devices on the machines
- Maintenance and upkeep of machine tools
Training stations:
- Basic training in metalworking
- Conventional manufacturing
- CNC turning, milling and grinding
- Prototype manufacturing
- Jig manufacturing
- Quality assurance
Our requirements:
- Good results in school certificates
- An interest in engineering
- Good spatial reasoning abilities
- An understanding of mathematics
- A flair for crafts and trade work
- A conscientious sense of responsibility
- Ability to keep workplaces clean and tidy and to work with care and accuracy
Length of training:
- 3½ years. The duration of training can be shortened in the case of good academic performance
